Features and Benefits of using Real Nappies
When using real cloth nappies, one of the greatest benefits is knowing that you are only using natural materials on your baby. No chemicals or plastic, as in disposables. With new organic and ethical nappies on the market, you also can make sure that all the materials are as natural as they come.
The financial saving is obviously the biggest benefit. On average a baby could use around 5000 disposable nappies which could cost around £800 - £900 per baby, and that is if they are toilet trained (night and day) by 2 ½ years. When using real nappies, the cost could be as little as £100. The obvious benefit is that they can be used on other children or sold on to make some money back. You can obviously spend more than that on real nappies (depending on their features) but if cost is the major factor, costs can easily be kept to a minimum.
By using cloth nappies you can also do your part to help the environment by washing your nappies in a full load, at 40 degrees with the occasional wash at 60 degrees, using an A rated appliance when you can, and either line dry them or dry them over an airer. What greater benefit is there than knowing you are helping to reduce our impact on the environment for all of our children? By using real cloth nappies your carbon footprint could be up to 40% smaller!
Using real nappies also helps cut down the amount of household waste going to landfill, which would otherwise sit there for hundreds of years, but with real nappies the waste is going down the toilet - exactly where it belongs.
It has never been simpler to use real nappies. Today’s options have no pins – most use poppers or velcro and come in a wide variety of colours and patterns to co-ordinate with your baby’s clothes! As for a feature, what is nicer than seeing your baby in a gorgeous, comfy nappy rather than paper pants?
Also, if you are using cloth nappies, why not use cloth wipes? They will save you lots of money, they have no chemicals in them, and again they help reduce our impact on the environment.
